Hello, all! I wanted to share the very beginning, a loose sketch, (detail) for what I think will be the cover painting for this sword and sorcery book I’m working on. I have a co-writer by the way.

I plan to continue on with the oils in my new painter 17. I am finding it a breeze to use, and it’s fast! Therefore, inspiration! If I can ever find someone or something that can keep up with my brain…then you people will really see some art! Ha ha! Anyway, hope you like this, and that you have a good day! More soon! Buy meh book!

On My Desk today…

Screen Shot 2017-02-20 at 12.30.17 PM.pngHere is a little progress picture for you. Today I’m designing the cover for my own upcoming anthology. If I keep up this pace, I think the release will be around March 1, 2017. Hope you like what you see here! The title of the book is “One Past Midnight: 13 Terrors” by Kathy Ferrell. I’ll be releasing on Amazon Kindle, hope you will check it out!

“The Stereoscope” to appear in “Tales of Mystery, Suspense & Terror”!

My short story “The Stereoscope” will soon appear in the upcoming anthology “Tales of Mystery, Suspense and Terror”. For my faithful readers, here is just a small, savory bit for you, to whet the appetite.

There were many of him in Africa, almost every photo displaying his skill as hunter. Elephants, wildebeest, all sorts of horned antelope, two spotted leopards and three massive lions. He sat leaning his back against one, laughing, both fists clutching hanks of its shaggy mane. He was looking right into the camera, showing his teeth and I thought he looked like a madman.

I think you will enjoy my latest dark tale, and I want you to share with me what you think. I love hearing from you! The book comes out in October, so hurry over to Chuffed Buff Books to reserve your copy now! I’m so pleased to be included  in such a twisted nest of horror. But then, I do feel so at home.

Until we speak again, my dears. Bon nuit!

Write, Submit, Write, Submit…

ImageYou’ll be proud of me, Gentle Reader. I said I was going to submit a few stories before the big startup of NaNoWriMo, and I’ve begun the task! Kind of a clearing of decks in order to make way for this novel thing. So just now I submitted a story that I feel pretty positive about. I’ve got two or three more I want to send into the ether before nightfall, but I really need some lunch. Cover letters make me hungry.

Do you like my typewriter? I got it at a yard sale a few years back. It has a ribbon in it, (all dried out, naturally), but I think I could actually get it to work if I could get the keys to clack smoothly. They are kind of sticky with dried ink. Some Edwardian fool was lax in maintenance. and suffered for it, surely. Who knows what great novels and/or poems were written with this machine? I like to imagine who used it, all those ages ago. Sometimes when I’m feeling frivolous, I slide the carriage just so I can hear it “ding”! Odd things make me happy.

Well, my faithful, I must depart for the moment. There’s salami and provolone in the fridge, and one sub bun left in the bread box. They call to me. I’m sure you understand. 🙂

Here’s another recent work for Tales of the Talisman. “The Coppergate Killings” illustrates Christine Morgan’s fantastic story by the same title. Appearing in issue 4, Volume 8, I think Chantal Noir is a superb heroine, and hope to read more of her steampunk adventures! I had a ton of fun with this, and would have loved to create it in color! I put on a frilly nightgown and used myself as the model to capture the pose, sketched it out in pencil and completed in Corel Painter.

In honor of Bela’s birthday, here is one of my earliest illustrations. It was done for an amazing magazine titled “Outer Darkness”. The story was titled “What We Did to Bela”, and it was very good, chilling. Unfortunately, I cannot recall the author’s name at the moment. Fifteen years have passed, so if anyone knows the story’s author, hit me up! Hope you enjoy, and click the pic for my portfolio! 🙂
